Dairy Farming In India

Most of Indian population has always remain depended on the agriculture activity for livelihood. Even today a major part of India's population is either directly or indirectly depended on the agriculture activity. and more or less with changing time India have seen major change in agriculture practices.

Some of the major changes are as follow

1. Use of Mechanical Equipment:- Tractor, Harvester, Earth movers, Land Levelers etc.
2. Advance Irrigation Method:- Drip Irrigation, Rain Guns,
3. Soil Health :- Testing of Soil health and rational use of NPK
4. Improved Seed Variety: -Genetically modified seeds, High Breed seeds
5. Controlled Environment Farming:- Green House, Shed net house, Poly house, etc
6. Advance equipment :- Solar powered pumps, Drone for pesticide doses,

On the other side at Dairy Farming, no major changes have come from what we were doing in 1947.
still the average productivity per animal is far bellow the average of western country. Country's total milk production is going up on the other side the productivity is either stagnant or increased at very low growth rate.

Even in Poultry India have made drastic change in production from 150 eggs / hen / year to 300 eggs / hen / year. Similarly in goat rearing results are very encouraging.

So it becomes very important to identify the root cause & bottle necks of the present dairy farming status in India.

What have been the issue of dairy farming ?

Where Indian dairy farmer is lagging behind ?

What are the new approaches Indian dairy farming have to adopt to overcome various bottle necks and root cause?

What is the role of advance technology to improve dairy farming?

What should be the strategy in Selection of correct dairy Animal?

What should be correct nutrition plan for dairy cattle ?

How can we minimize adverse effect of environment ?

These are tip of the iceberg, real issue have to be identify and very local level answers to the issue need to be Identify.

Many ready resources are available through feed suppliers, medicine suppliers, suppliant suppliers but all of them are having one single answer and that is purchase of that company's product. that's why Indian dairy farmers have to act very smart they have to be aware about the upcoming market challenges.

Through this MoooTalk I am going to record my own experience and interactions to make a Journal for success for Indian Dairy Farmers.
